All About Norway

ALL ABOUT NORWAY

If I were given an opportunity to live in another country other than Malaysia , it would be Norway . There is a myriad of scenic and magnificient views which definitely attracts my attention . Norway is also known as " The Land of The Midnight Sun " , where half a year is bathed in total daylight and the other six months under the shroud of night . During the season of daylight , the sun would be shining brightly for 22 hours . The skies will only be dark for 2 hours in a day , usually between 3a.m. to 5a.m. However , during the other half of the year where it is totally dark , the citizens would have to consume vitamins such as Vitamin D in capsule or pill form as supplements as the source of natural sunlight is limited .

I would say Norway is the best place to live because the citizens get to enjoy the best of life . Although the cost of living is extremely high , it is worth it . The government uses the peoples' tax money to build roads which emit heat especially during winter . Other than that , the people are only required to work 6 hours a day . Those who work more than that would be thought lowly by the rest of the company .

As Malaysia only has one season ; summer , it is very different compared to Norway . Living in a country which has winter as one of the seasons would be a great experience as I would love to touch and feel snow some day . Twenty - seven degree celsius is the warmest temperature Norway would experience throughout the year , my ideal temperature for living . Malaysia is way too hot with the scorching sun burning my skin .

Norway is known to have the freshest seafood especially salmon . Salmon from Norway is something worth dying for . The first time I tried the Norwegian salmon made me crave for more . The fish is just so fresh and the sweetness of it just makes my mind go crazy . Besides salmon , Norway also has a traditional dish , which is fish soup . It comes either in curry or clear soup base . People in Norway usually eat it with rice . The rice in Norway is similar to the ones in Malaysia . Long grain and fragrant . The best place to enjoy this scrumptious dish is in a quaint town called Bergen . An area of the town is known as a UNESCO heritage site . It is also painted with a myriad of colours . There is also a fishermen's wharf directly in front of the colourful row of buildings . People just sit there to enjoy the nice cold breeze . If I were given a choice , I would definitely choose to stay and live here in Bergen .

The buildings and shops are built in a very unique way where it is slightly slanted . As I love climbing mountains , this is also an ideal town to live as there is a mountain located slightly off the centre of Bergen called Mount Floyen . It is about 425 metres to the highest point of the mountain . For those who hate hiking up are also able to visit Mount Floyen by taking the furnicular up . Up on Mount Floyen sits a famous fine dining restaurant . The restaurant serves a variety of traditional Norwegian dishes . A section of the peak of Mount Floyen is decorated with statues of trolls . Standing near the trolls at night can be quite scary although it is said to bring good luck .
Norway also has other famous and interesting sightseeing places which I love visiting and do not mind visiting over and over again .

The heavy water plant is located in a place called Vemork . Many years ago , the plant was built to generate electricity . Fortunately , it was blown up by a commando unit of British and Norwegians known as " The Heroes of Telemark " . This area is now converted to a museum named Vemork Museum . The amount of remains from the heavy water plant is outrageous . I could just spend days exploring the museum . A tour around the museum is also included . The tour includes showing how the heavy water plant operates . Once a part of the plant stops functioning , no electricity could be generated . It is designed very detailed .

The other reason why I would want to live in Norway is because it is surrounded by magnificient and spectacular fjords . For those who don't know what fjords are , here it is....... it is a long narrow inlet with steep sides or cliffs , created by glacial erosion .

In between the fjords would usually have long clear lakes . The most amazing fjord is called the Hardangerfjord . Ferry rides are available there too . The ride usually takes people and cars too from Utne to Kvanndal . The journey takes about one hour or so i think (can't really remember). Camera is a must have on this ride . The sky is absolutely clear and the smell of fresh water usually fills the air and surroundings . I could just spend the whole day relaxing on the ferry . However , the ferry ride was extremely cold . It sends chills over my whole body . Layers and layers of clothes would have to be worn during the ride . If you are feeling hungry , there is a mini cafe in the ferry itself . I did not purchase anything from the cafe so I can't say anything about the food . However , although I did not taste the food , I must say it is delicious as it smells really good .

These are all the attractions which makes me want to live in Norway forever . Norway would certainly be a country I would love to be for my lifetime .
